Patch Reefs are self-contained outcroppings of structural relief (sometimes also referred to as Sea Mounts). Common along coastlines and isolated continental shelves, they are frequently formed by glacial erratics and rock structures deposited during the retreat of ice age glaciers.

  • Optimal Foraging: Reef dwellers take refuge in the structure and forage in the surrounding sandy plains.
